Commerzbank passes CEBS stress test

● Tier 1 capital ratio in all scenarios well above the requirements of CEBS

● Strutz: "We are well positioned even under difficult conditions"

As expected, Commerzbank has passed the CEBS stress test. In all three scenarios under examination, the Bank's Tier 1 capital ratio remained well above the requirements of CEBS (6%) and also above Commerzbank's target range (7% to 9%).

In the "benchmark scenario" the Tier 1 capital ratio stands at 10.5% and in the "adverse scenario" it is 9.3%. If additional deductions on exposures vis-á-vis European central and local governments are taken into account, the Bank's Tier 1 ratio is at 9.1%.

"We have systematically reduced our risks. That put a strain on us, especially in 2008 and 2009. The results of the stress test show that even under difficult conditions, we are well positioned and well equipped for the future", said Eric Strutz, Chief Financial Officer of Commerzbank.
