Commerzbank with over 1,000 new apprentices

● At 7%, the ratio of apprentices to total staff remains at a high level

● Sieber: "We are building foundations for the future and investing in the next generation"

More than 1,000 apprentices and students on dual courses (2009: 940) are to join Commerzbank on August 1, 2010. The majority of the new arrivals will receive traditional banking training in the private or corporate customers segments. But Commerzbank also offers specialist training fields, such as IT and dialogue marketing. At around 7%, the ratio of apprentices to total staff at the Bank remains at a high level.

"We want to offer our customers unrivalled service and are already building foundations for the future. This is why we are continuing to invest in selecting and training the next generation," said Ulrich Sieber, responsible for Human Resources and Integration in the Board of Managing Directors of Commerzbank.

An introduction week, organized uniformly on a regional basis, will kick off training for the junior staff, enabling them to learn about the Bank's qualification concept, acquaint themselves with the internal IT systems and bring their own networking capabilities into their training. In order to use interactive learning formats, they will also receive their own laptop and Internet connection for the duration of their apprenticeship.
