GRI report internationally awarded (28/09/2023)

This year, our GRI balance sheet for 2022 was awarded second place in ESG Investing in the „Best Company for Sustainability Reporting - Finance“ category. The independent jury of experts awarded the Corporate ESG Award for the third time in seven different categories.
Commendation was especially given to Commerzbank's strict commitment to sustainability, which is reflected in the strong integration of the topic into our strategy. In addition, our approach to the selection of topics for sustainability reporting was highlighted. Furthermore, we were able to convince with our approach of double materiality analysis involving external partners and the mutual evaluation of both, impact- and business-perspectives to identify the most relevant sustainability issues. Commerzbank joins Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials (PCAF) (21/09/2023)

PCAF members are committed to reporting carbon dioxide emissions from credit and investment across the industry using a consistent methodology. These financed emissions are a crucial part of banks' carbon footprint. The PCAF approach allows stakeholders to compare this carbon footprint of banks. GRI Report 2022 published (24/07/2023)

Commerzbank presents its 2022 sustainability report in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative. This GRI balance sheet is available in an online format including a PDF download. With this annual overview, we detail the data and facts of our sustainability performance. Commerzbank wins two awards for sustainability projects (06/06/2023)

The Commerzbank Environmental Internship and ESG Framework are awarded the German Award for Sustainability Projects 2023. A top-class jury from science, business and media chaired by Yvonne Zwick, chairman of B.A.U.M. e.V., evaluated the entries. Out of a total of 283 nominations, Commerzbank was able to convince with two projects and win awards. The award was presented for the third time by the German Institute for Service Quality, the news channel NTV and the DUP UNTERNEHMER Magazine. The award focuses on the 17 sustainable development goals of the United Nations in the areas of social, economic and environmental issues. more

Commerzbank has top ESG offerings according to Capital study (01/06/2023)

In a study by Capital, "the best of the sustainable" banks and asset managers were sought. The study participants were analyzed and evaluated using the categories portfolio evaluation, product transparency and ESG within the company. Commerzbank achieved the best overall rating among all participating banks and independent asset managers. Commerzbank is thus in the 1st place in the rankings. And received the "Top ESG Offer" award, which attests to the very good ESG implementation in the company and in the portfolio submitted to their asset management. Commerzbank joins the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosure (TNFD) (22/05/2023)

In April 2023 Commerzbank has joined the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) as official supporter. Our aim is to raise transparency through the disclosure of the nature-related risks and opportunities associated with our credit portfolio. The TNFD recommendations constitute the basis for consistent and comparable reporting practices on the loss of biological diversity. TNFD is guided by the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD). Commerzbank publishes its TCFD disclosures in its non-financial report since 2022. The disclosure of the TNFD-report will follow in 2024 accordingly in the non-financial report.

SBTi validates Commerzbank’s ambitious emissions reduction targets (30/03/2023)

Commerzbank is the first German bank with SBTi-validated CO2 emissions reduction targets. The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has validated the Bank’s near-term CO2 emissions reduction targets for 2030. The validated SBTi targets represent a core element of Commerzbank’s sustainability strategy and its commitment to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2050 in line with a 1.5-degree Celsius scenario. The reduction targets are published in our ESG Framework. more

Non-financial report for 2022 is online (27/03/2023)

Commerzbank publishes its non-financial report for 2022 in a new layout. It provides information on the Bank's sustainability performance and its key issues: Climate change mitigation and adaptation, environmental protection and biodiversity as well as circular economy. The report is based on the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standard and the requirements of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosure (TCFD). In addition, the data on the EU Taxonomy Regulation have been integrated. here

Earth Hour 2023: Together against climate change (25/03/2023)

Once again Commerzbank took part in the worldwide Earth Hour. On March 25 the lights in several buildings in Frankfurt and Berlin were turned off for one hour. Far beyond these 60 minutes the initiative strives to motivate people for a more sustainable life. Commerzbank has long been active in climate protection.
